90 East Street

  • Location: Bedminster, Bristol
  • Contractor: Juniper Homes Ltd
  • Requirements: A lightweight, brick faced rainscreen
  • Solution: P-Clad
  • Architect: David Cahill Design

Bristol based residential developers Bedminster Properties One have recently completed the redevelopment of 90-96 East Street in the heart of Bedminster. The original building included 2 ground floor retail units which front onto Bedminster’s local shopping area as well as office space on the first floor and a small second floor area to the rear.

The redevelopment, by architects David Cahill Design, included the conversion of the rear of one of the retail units, plus the first floor and an upward infill extension on the second floor, to provide a total of twenty four 1 & 2 bed apartments.

The weight of the new upward extension had to be supported by the existing foundations and building structure, so a lightweight cladding system was required. We supplied 210m2 of our P-Clad system along with Red Dragwire brick slips from the Britannia range to the contractor Juniper Homes. The slip colour was chosen to closely match the brickwork of the existing buildings.

This was a challenging project because it involved working in a confined space with very limited storage. To help with this, Eurobrick supplied the materials to site at various stages to fit with the project delivery programme.
