Exterior Wilford residential house

Private residence Wilford

  • Client: Private Residence
  • Location: Wilford, Nottingham, UK
  • Contractor: Kestrel Building Services
  • Requirements: External insulation, brick finish in keeping with surrounding area, low maintenance
  • Solution: X-Clad

The owners of this 1930s home wanted to insulate their home, which had solid brick walls. The house was cold in winter, hot in summer and had problems with damp and condensation.

The owners wanted to retain a brick finish, in keeping with houses in the local area and chose Eurobrick because of our well established credentials, a wide choice of brick slips and because our X-Clad system could not only solve their problems but could also achieve energy savings of up to 30%.

We used 75mm thick insulation panels on most of the house, reducing to 50mm where there were space restrictions and 17mm where no insulation was required, inside the porch. The homeowners chose Rustic Red Charcoal multi with a detail band of Smooth Anthracite, from our Britannia range and the brickwork was pointed using a mid grey mortar.

The homeowners are thrilled with the results. They were able to live in the house as normal while the work was carried out and now have a considerably drier atmosphere inside. They were also very happy to see a 30% reduction in their heating costs and, following a property valuation, the new look exterior had added kerb appeal, and therefore value, to the property too.
