Closure of the LABC Assured Registration Scheme

Eurobrick has participated in the LABC Assured Registration Scheme, formerly LABC Registered Details, since 2010. We have recently been informed by the LABC that following the government’s announcement in January that a new building materials regulator will be set up within the Office for Product Safety and Standards and that the LABC Board have undertaken a comprehensive review and decided that the scheme will be discontinued from 1st December 2021.

LABC has advised that “guidance on ways of establishing the fitness of materials can be found in the Approved Document that supports regulation7: Materials and Workmanship 2013 edition incorporating 2018 amendments – for use in England or the parallel Approved Document for building work in Wales.

Paragraph 1.2 of the above documents describe how you can assess the suitability of a material for use for a specific purpose in a number of ways. These are described in paragraphs 1.3 to 1.21 of both approved documents.”
