We have recently supplied materials to Bristol based contractor Spec Projects Ltd for their project at Scala Court in Bath. Designed by Ferguson Mann Architects, the development needed a lightweight cladding solution that could help create a distinctive brick finish to the window details on the project.
The Scala project is a large mixed use development in the popular student area of Oldfield Park and includes the redevelopment of the existing 1920s Scala cinema building. Part of the old building was demolished to make way for the new 3-storey student accommodation block which provides a total of 72 student rooms.
We supplied whole bricks, our P-Clad system and specially cut brick slips to create the triangular oriel type windows. P-Clad is lightweight compared to traditionally constructed masonry which made the distinctive window design details possible.
The building was constructed using a stretcher bond pattern with large areas of soldier courses to create an attractive effect with the brickwork and the chosen brick complements Bath’s famous Bathstone colour palette.
