We’ve been working with McDonald’s for over 25 years now, supplying our systems as part of their pallet of modern finishes at drive thru restaurants throughout the UK.
Our systems have been installed at over 800 of their restaurants now, with the latest update to the restaurant in Appleby Magna, Leicestershire.
This particular restaurant was one of the early drive thrus built during the 1990s as part of McDonald’s rapid expansion programme. Back then, the nature of the programme demanded a robust brick cladding system that could be installed quickly and that would be suitable for factory installation and then transportation to site. The restaurants were faced with a range of different brick slip finishes including our extruded and cut brick slips, reconstituted stone slips and, where planning restrictions dictated, specially cut brick slips and stone slips.
Some of the original restaurants were constructed using American size bricks slips and backer panel, so during the recent extension and modification work at Appleby Magna, for the sake of continuity, US sizes were supplied by us again. Eurobrick approved installers, HEMS Construction, carried out the installation of around 32m² of our X-Clad system on site at the restaurant. The brick slips used on the original building were American produced and sized slips known as Ingham and Cedar Creek, which were discontinued many years ago. With careful consideration, it has been possible to find slips that, whilst not a perfect match, are as close as possible to the originals. These slips are however a standard UK size, so have been cut to the original US size specially for this project.
The majority of McDonald's Restaurants seen around the country have been clad with Eurobrick and we’re proud of our longstanding relationship with them. We believe it speaks volumes about the quality of our cladding products and the quality of service we provide.
